We had some internal debates on how much we should invest in adding new stuff to Windows Phone 7 SDKs. My gut feeling was telling that the returns on such investment are diminishing. But gut feeling isn’t good enough. Especially when we have some data to rely on.
Here you can see the number of new WP7 apps compared to new WP8 apps on AdDuplex. As you can see from the trend line, this ratio will come to pretty much zero by the end of 2014.

You just can’t develop a wp7 app on windows8.1 http://jphellemons.nl/post/develop-a-windows-phone-7-application-on-windows-81 you need (a vm with) windows 7 for it.

Not true, I got Visual Studio 2012 installed on Windows 8.1 machine and developing WP7.5 apps works just fine.
