AdDuplex Windows Phone Statistics Report for February 2014

It’s time for another Windows Phone report from AdDuplex. At the time of this writing Winter Olympics are underway in Sochi and we decided that recent Olympic host countries would make a good list of countries to cover.

Data source

This report is based on data collected from 3310 (symbolic number, right?) Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2. The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of February 18th, 2014 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated. We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model names under their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model name variations were not accounted for.

Worldwide statistics show little surprises this month as Lumia 520 only strengthens its positions from a month earlier and now holds 33% of the total market. Other changes include the shift between Lumia 710 and 625, the former losing its 5th position in the global ranking to the latter. Again, no newcomers are on the map as other category remains at 21.5%.

One of the most requested features was to be able to target apps by category. We are happy to announce that it is now possible. Go to the “Targeting” tab in your campaign details and select the categories you want to target (available via the new Client Area only).

Showcase your AdDuplex App

AdDuplex goal is to help developers promote their apps. Having that in mind, our daily struggle is how to ensure we are doing everything we can to make this happen.

That is why we are launching a new initiative – AdDuplex App Showcase. Sounds fancy, right?

AdDuplex is constantly participating in industry events with thousands of attendees. However, we believe this could also help you, developers, even without you physically being there.

We invite each one of you to suggest your application, that we could showcase during these events as a great example of AdDuplex service in action.

Benefits:

  • Additional promotion within a very targeted audience
  • We will show your app(s) to “influencers” in the Windows Phone and Windows 8 community.
  • Your great app will set the good tone that will attract high-quality apps to AdDuplex network which will automatically increase the quality of the whole cross promotion network

In order to participate, your app must meet the following criteria:

  1. You use AdDuplex exclusively (we can see it every time we launch). We are happy if you intermix AdDuplex ads with other ad networks in general, but for this particular case we need to be able to demonstrate our ad control in your app without resorting to any black magic.
  2. Yours is not a “grey area” app from IP, copyright, trademark standpoint. We are not here to judge how legal your app is and, as long as Microsoft is fine with your app being in the store we are fine too. That said, we don’t want the question of legality of the app distracting the people we are showing it to. We also don’t want to trick people into thinking that our ads are running in, say, Facebook app, when in fact it’s just a web view wrapper for a mobile Facebook website.

Mobile World Congress February 24–27– Let’s Meet!

Mobile World Congress - the biggest Mobile industry event is once again taking place in Barcelona, Spain.

Over 70,000 people are expected to gather there on February 24-27 and (chances are) a number of AdDuplex users and friends will also be packing their suitcases to get the latest trends in the mobile world.

AdDuplex team is also going to be present during the event.

On the 25th of February, we will be at the Nokia Developer Day where we hope to meet all those of you who are coming to Spain.

Location: Hall 8.0 Theatre District, Theatre B

During the other days, we will be wandering around, arranging meetings, and trying to spot the latest trends in the mobile business.

 

Why are we sharing this?

Well, we want to meet you in person and a have a (quick) chat about what you do and ways that we could improve your performance. We will also be handing out advertising coupons that you could then use in your AdDuplex campaigns.

Pricing adjusted based on your feedback

20k impressions for 60$ - this used to be the starting package for most of our clients. After long discussions within our team, we have decided to change this offer based on your feedback and our goal to optimize results for each package bought. 

The starter kit was meant to show each new user the possibilities and potential of AdDuplex. Low cost, small number of impressions - the perfect recipe for "testing the water". The logical next step should have been upgrading to one of the two bigger packages.

While a number of users have done exactly that, a small portion of our clients with a low marketing budget kept using the starter kit (which was not meant to serve as a long-term solution). It became obvious that, even though as a starters kit it served its purpose, the impressions bought were just too low and the CPM seemed just a little bit too high.

As a result, we want to present you the new starter package with the following stats:

50,000 impressions for $99 at $1.98 CPM

We strongly believe that 50 000 impressions is a good choice for most of the beginners, especially since CPM is significantly (33%) lower compared to our previous package, and it should serve both new users and existing ones, which are keeping their marketing budget low.
